Modifying the password for an account in WHM/cPanel is illustrated in this session.
To modify password
First Login to the WHM page and click Account Function.
In the account function section, it displays the List of account that are available. You can change the password for any account in WHM by using the following methods.
Method 1
First Click on password modification
Select the account for which the password has to be modified. For instance, we have selected examplelinuxhelp.
cPanel recommends you to create a new password using the password generator. You can also generate the password manually. But we are now using the password generator to create encrypted password for security reasons.
Click password generator and random encrypted password will be generated.
Copy and paste the encrypted password in the password section. Now click change password.
The password for examplelinuxhelp is changed successfully.
System, FTP, mail, MySQL service passwords are changed.
Method 2
There is also an alternative method to change the password in WHM.
Navigate to Account information > Click List accounts
The list of accounts will be displayed. Just click + in the respective account. You can also search using the username, domain name, IP address etc.
Now it asks for change password and contact Email.
Now Enter the desired password in the change password section and click Change.
Now the password will be changed successfully.
It is highly recommended to change the password frequently to prevent the web server from hackers.
