Arch linux based Apricity OS - officially drew to an end!!!
Apricity OS, a Linux distribution based on Arch Linux has been terminated recently. The Apricity team had decided to pull the plug on the distro citing time constraints as their “ small team of developers has no time to develop the operating system” . In their official page, the Apricity team has stated that, “ Like all good things, Apricity OS must come to an end.”
The team further stated that, “ As Apricity OS is officially dead and no one claims to fork it or continue its development, the Apricity OS team will no longer provide feature enhancements for the distribution, nor release new ISO snapshots.”
The team wishes their users to continue using Linux and explore more in future. The team also added a note to users, that people who are still using Apricity OS won’ t be receiving any updates further, but switching to Arch Linux repositories will provide updates in future.
Manjaro Linux, another Arch based operating system is suggested as an alternative by the Apricity community to all its hard core users since it is very easy to install.
It’ s interesting to know that Apricity OS was found only a year ago and included a captivating desktop functionality, a feature for which it was most noted. It was first backed up by Gnome desktop environment and later by KDE, Xfce, and Cinnamon.
