The abbreviation of SSH is “Secure Shell”, which is a protocol used in Linux to log onto remote systems and also to execute commands on those remote systems in a safe and secure manner. It allows the users to access a command line or a shell remotely on Linux systems. It offers better authentication and consists of features like port forwarding, X session forwarding and secure file transfer.

The syntax of SSH is,

$ ssh remote_host


SSH connects the client to an ssh server. On changing the SSH configuration, the sshd server settings can also be changed. It also provides encryption of all the information that is passed back and forth in the system.
