How to install cantata on ubuntu 16.04

Cantata is a music player, working with KDE, or as a Qt4 application. This tutorial explains the installation process of cantata on ubuntu 16.04.

The latest version available is Cantata, which comes with the following changes and fixes:

  • Re-add all album sorts from Cantata 1.x
  • Detects DLNA streams (e.g. when using upmpdcli), and show as regular albums in grouped view.
  • Add option to use user’ s configured icon theme, and not Cantata’ s supplied theme. Option needs to be manually set in config file.
  • Add filename / path to list of dynamic rule properties.

Installation procedure

To start installation procedure for Cantata. Run the repository command. 

root@linuxhelp:~# add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntuhandbook1/cantata
 KDE build of Cantata packages. Maintained by ubuntuhandbook.org
For qt build without KDE libs, go to:
