To install Liferea in Ubuntu

Liferea stands for Linux Feed Reader, which is a lightweight aggregator for online news feed and weblogs. It allows the users to import and export feed lists. Installation of Liferea in Ubuntu is explained in this article.

Installation of Liferea

First you need to add the repository with the following command.

root@linuxhelp:~# add-apt-repository ppa:klaus-vormweg/ppa
 up to date version of software I use - Awesome, Bluefish, Sylpheed - for current stable Ubuntu. Some are bleeding edge versions, others are backported from Debian Unstable.

This PPA is just used for testing.

Now its time to open the installed software through Unity dash. Type Liferea in the search bar and then click on the icon.

Homepage of liferea software will appear as shown below.

To add new subscription, just click on New subscription.

Enter the URL and then click OK option.

Newly created feed will display as shown below.

Click on any file heading, to see the selected file content on the preview screen.

To remove Liferea package

Remove the Liferea package with the following command.

root@linuxhelp:~# apt-get remove liferea -y
