Linux users can now enjoy Netflix on Firefox
Netflix has recently addressed one of its compatibility concerns by enabling Firefox to stream Netflix videos on a Linux platform. Netflix doesn’ t officially support Linux, but that doesn’ t mean it wasn’ t accessible to the Linux users, as Google chrome, with EME SUPPORT came in handy to them for the last two years.
Now, as of yesterday, team Netflix has announced that those who use Netflix on Linux can access the video streamed by them via Firefox too.
Also, this recent development eliminates the need to install any plug-ins to access Netflix, and from now on there isn’ t any necessity to use chrome’ s Digital Rights Management (DRM) technology to access any of the videos from Netflix.
Netflix has stated that it wants to expand its Ultra HD 4K video playback to more platforms soon, and their team is working on it. After the launch of Microsoft Edge browser back in December, their next aim is to bring HDR video to their service, but the company didn’ t release much information on that. Interestingly, Netflix nemesis Amazon already offers HDR content, which can be viewed on TVs with the correct support.
Netflix has also announced the HTML5 video support, a feature the company was developing for the past four years, to ChromeOS, Internet Explorer, Safari, Opera, Firefox, Edge and other supporting platforms.
