Mdadm is a software used to monitor RAID devices, which are created from various real block devices. It performs all the basic functions required for the administration of multiple device sets. It combines multiple devices into a single device for holding a single filesystem. Its operational modes include creation, building, assembling, management, monitoring and auto-detection.
