GitHub releases GitHub Marketplace features dozen integrators and speed development

{{postValue.id}}

GitHub has released GitHub Marketplace, featuring apps from a dozen integrators, at the GitHub satellite conference. The platform allows developers to review and purchase new tools that do everything from helping to manage projects to automating code building, and testing code quality.

The main feature in this marketplace is that it allows developers to start using any tools without setting up multiple accounts or multiple payment methods. The launch partners are Travis Cl, Codacy, Waffle.io, Sentry, Appveyor, ZenHub, CircleCi, and others.

Waffle.io, an open source developer of workflow apps, says that being in league with GitHub marketplace allows it to reach more customers directly and the marketplace.

Another integrator Circle Ci, says that the site promotes its mission to help developers speed up the building, testing and deployment of code. " Everything we do is aimed at making it easier for developers to build great things," said Circle Ci CEO Jim Rose.

The GitHub apps are out of prerelease phase and its main mission is to help developers through the process of setting up and managing apps as well as integration to apps. The GitHub Graph QL API is released to allow developers to create their own tools with more data access. Data requests can be made in a single request with real-time updates.

An organized repository is much needed when GitHub is growing with projects. With the ability to add and depreciate fields, it looks like a " clean abstraction layer for hiding calls to different storage and database systems," says, Paul Teich, principal analyst at Tirias Research.

Frequently asked questions ( 5 )

Q

How are stories ranked?

A

The basic algorithm divides points by a power of the time since a story was submitted. Comments in comment threads are ranked the same way.

Other factors affecting rank include user flags, anti-abuse software, software which downweights overheated discussions, and moderator intervention.

Q

How is a user's karma calculated?

A

Roughly, the number of upvotes on their stories and comments minus the number of downvotes. The numbers don't match up exactly, because some votes aren't counted to prevent abuse.

Q

Why don't I see down arrows?

A

There are no down arrows on stories. They appear on comments after users reach a certain karma threshold, but never on direct replies.

Q

Why can't I post a comment to a thread?

A

Threads are closed to new comments after two weeks, or if the submission has been killed by software, moderators, or user flags.

Q

what are GitHub releases GitHub Marketplace features dozen integrators?

A

We’re proud to be part of GitHub Marketplace and believe it’s a critical avenue for growth and success for all products in the developer ecosystem space. There is no better platform than GitHub for growth, collaboration, and brand equity. As GitHub continues to concentrate on its ecosystem and GitHub Marketplace, we look forward to enhancing our partnership.”
