How to install Audacious 3.9 on Ubuntu 17.04

Audacious is a free, cross-platform, open source and high quality audio player. It is known for its low resource usage and it supports a wide range of audio formats. It can get several additional features through third party plugins. It is the default audio player in Lubuntu and in Ubuntu Studio. This article explains the installation process involved with Audacious 3.9 on Ubuntu 17.04.

Installation procedure

To start with the installation procedure, add the dependency package into repository via ppa.

root@linuxhelp:~# add-apt-repository ppa:nilarimogard/webupd8
 The main Web Upd8 PPA maintained by: http://www.webupd8.org/
To add this PPA, simply paste this in a terminal:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:nilarimogard/webupd8

Update the machine by executing the apt-get update command.

The target machine is updated with the required repositories. Install the audacious package and run it.

After installing the audacious package, go to Ubuntu dashboard and type audacious in the search bar. It will display the application. click on the icon to run the application.

The audacious application is running successfully and now you can play any type of music via Audacious.
