How to Install Lepton CMS on CentOS 7.5

  • 00:38 rpm -q centos-release
  • 00:53 mysql -u root -p

Installation of Lepton CMS on CentOS 7.5

Lepton is an open source content management system used for creating and managing dynamic web content. It can be used either as Weblog, CMS or Web Portal and it is written PHP and uses MySQL database. It supports forums, image galleries, comments and many more. This tutorial covers the installation of Lepton CMS on Centos 7.5

Requirements for Lepton cms
Apache
MariaDB
PHP and its modules
php php-xml php-mysql  php-mbstring php-zip php-soap php-curl php-gd php-ldap php-imap php-common php-mcrypt
Installation procedure

Before you begin, check the version of Centos you are using by running the following command.

[root@linuxhelp ~]# rpm -q centos-release
centos-release-7-5.1804.el7.centos.x86_64

Configure the MySQL database. Log into MySQL as a root user and make the necessary settings.

[root@linuxhelp ~]# mysql -u root -p
Enter password: 
Welcome to the MariaDB monitor.  Commands end with ; or \g.
Your MariaDB connection id is 10
Server version: 5.5.60-MariaDB MariaDB Server

Copyright (c) 2000, 2018, Oracle, MariaDB Corporation Ab and others.

MariaDB [(none)]> create database lepton;
Query OK, 1 row affected (0.00 sec)

MariaDB [(none)]> create user 'lepuser'@localhost identified by '123456';
Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.02 sec)

MariaDB [(none)]> grant all privileges on lepton.* to 'lepuser'@localhost;
Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.00 sec)

MariaDB [(none)]> flush privileges;
Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.00 sec)

MariaDB [(none)]> Ctrl-C -- exit!
Aborted

Once the database configuration is done, download the installation package of Lepton CMS package by using the wget command.

 [root@linuxhelp ~]# wget https://lepton-cms.org/media/download_gallery/LEPTON_stable_4.3.0.zip

Once the download is completed extract the downloaded package using unzip command

[root@linuxhelp ~]# unzip LEPTON_stable_4.3.0.zip

Move the Lepton CMS directory to apache root directory.

[root@linuxhelp ~]# mv LEPTON_stable_4.3.0 /var/www/lepton

And then, set the ownership and permission for Lepton CMS by running the following command.

[root@linuxhelp ~]# chown -R apache:apache /var/www/lepton

[root@linuxhelp ~]# chmod -R 755 /var/www/lepton

Configure the virtualhost for accessing the Lepton CMS in the following manner.

 [root@linuxhelp ~]# vim /etc/httpd/conf.d/lepton.conf
<Virtualhost *:80>
        Servername www.linuxhelp1.com
        Documentroot /var/www/lepton
<directory /var/www/lepton>
allowoverride all
allow from all
</directory>
</Virtualhost>

And then, restart the apache service by using the following command.

 [root@linuxhelp ~]# systemctl restart httpd

Switch to your browser and enter the domain name. snap1 Checking configuration of PHP requirement. snap2 Check out the file permissions of the Lepton CMS. snap3 Configure the Path setting, Language, and Time zone. snap4 Configure the Database Setup. snap5 Configure the Admin user account. snap6 After completing the installation, you can log in with the help of using Admin user credential. snap7 You will see the Admin control panel of Lepton CMS. snap8 Copy the two-factor authentication pin snap9 Enter the admin credentials to log in the Lepton CMS. snap10 Paste the two-factor authentication pin. snap11 This is the dashboard of Lepton CMS. snap12 With this, the method to install Lepton CMS on CentOS 7.5 comes to an end.
