How to Install Musescore on Debian 8.3

Musescore is a free scorewriter for Windows, MacOS and Linux supporting a wide variety of file formats and input methods. It is a WYSISYG environment in which musical scores can be created. This article will explain on how to install Musescore on Debian 8.3

Installation procedure

To start the installation procedure, open the sources.list file using the nano command.

root@linuxhelp:~# nano /etc/apt/sources.list

Now add these lines at end of the configuration file. After adding the lines save and exit from the file.

deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ stable main contrib non-free
deb http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian jessie main

Next update the target system by using the apt-get update command.

root@linuxhelp:~# apt-get update

Now install the Musescore package by running the following command.

Once the package has been installed, click the Activities window and type the Musescore package in the search bar and run the application.

Wasn' t that an easy installation procedure? Musescore can import MusicXML, MIDI, Guitar Pro, Capella, etc.
