How To Install Omeka Classic CMS On CentOS 8

  • 00:28 rpm -q centos-release
  • 00:39 wget https://github.com/omeka/Omeka/releases/download/v2.7.1/omeka-2.7.1.zip
  • 00:56 unzip omeka-2.7.1.zip
  • 01:11 mv omeka-2.7.1 /var/www/omeka
  • 01:21 chown -R apache:apache /var/www/omeka
  • 01:35 chmod -R 755 /var/www/omeka
  • 01:56 vim /etc/httpd/conf.d/omeka.conf
  • 03:03 mysql -u root -p
  • 04:19 cd /var/www/omeka/
  • 04:29 vim db.ini
  • 05:10 systemctl restart httpd

How To Install Omeka Classic CMS On CentOS 8

Omeka Classic is a web publishing platform for sharing digital collections and creating media-rich online exhibits. This video covers the tutorial on Installation of Omeka Classic on CentOS 8

Installation process:

Check the CentOS version by using the following command

 [root@linuxhelp ~]# rpm -q centos-release
centos-release-8.1-1.1911.0.8.el8.x86_64

Before the installation, you need to download the Omeka installation package.

[root@linuxhelp ~]# wget https://github.com/omeka/Omeka/releases/download/v2.7.1/omeka-2.7.1.zip

Move the Omeka directory to apache root directory

[root@linuxhelp ~]# mv omeka-2.7.1 /var/www/omeka

Set the ownership and permission for Omeka CMS

[root@linuxhelp ~]# chown -R apache:apache /var/www/omeka
[root@linuxhelp ~]# chmod -R 755 /var/www/omeka

Configure the virtualhost for Omeka CMS

[root@linuxhelp ~]# vim /etc/httpd/conf.d/omeka.conf
<virtualhost *:80>
       Servername www.linuxhelp1.com
       Documentroot /var/www/omeka
<directory /var/www/omeka>
allowoverride all
allow from all
</directory>
</virtualhost>

Now need to create a database for Omeka CMS

[root@linuxhelp ~]# mysql -u root -p
Enter password:

MariaDB [(none)]> create database omeka_db;

MariaDB [(none)]> create user 'omeka_user'@localhost identified by 'Linuxc#4';
Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.002 sec)

MariaDB [(none)]> grant all privileges on omeka_db.* to 'omeka_user'@localhost;
Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.000 sec)

MariaDB [(none)]> flush privileges;
Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.001 sec)

MariaDB [(none)]> exit
Bye

Enter into the omeka cms directory

[root@linuxhelp ~]# cd /var/www/omeka/

List out the files

[root@linuxhelp omeka]# ls -la

Configure the db.ini file and enter the db credentials here

Once all the step is completed restart apache service

 [root@linuxhelp omeka]# systemctl restart httpd

Enter your domain name in search url snap1

Create the login credentials for admin account snap2 snap3 snap4 snap5

Loginto the Omeka CMS with the credentials snap6 snap7 With this, the method to install Omeka Classic CMS comes to an end.
