To install Peek 1.3.1 on Ubuntu 18.04

Peek is a system software for Linux that provides to create simple animated GIF file based on the GIF89 file format. A screencast is created from a user-defined screen area. It is not only a general purpose screencasts application, It' s having an extended feature with focuses on the single task of creating small, silent screencasts of an area of the screen for creating animation or silent WebM or MP4 videos. It is so simple to install Peek 1.3.1 on Ubuntu 18.04 and this tutorial covers the ground on the same process.

To install Peek

First, make sure the system repository is up to date by making use of the following command.

Now the peek has been installed on the machine. In order to open the peek application go to the ubuntu dashboard and search for Peek.
search_peek

You will see the following screen after opening the application.
open_peek

In order to select a type of screencasts mode, you can make use of drop-down option on the top left corner of the application.
screencast_mode

To start recording with GIF format choose " record as GIF."
start_recording

After recording if you want To stop the recording process click on stop
stop_recording

After clicking STOP you will be prompted to save, choose a location and save the file as gif format. In order to check the peek version, you can make use make use of the below-mentioned command in the image.
