How to install uGet Download Manager in Debian 8.3

The uGet download manager is a free and open source download manager written in GTK+. It is cross platform and has independent configuration files. This tutorial will explain on how to install uGet on Debian 8.3.

Installation procedure

To start the installation procedure, first open the sources.list file using the nano command. 

root@linuxhelp:~# nano /etc/apt/sources.list

Now the sources.list file opens, add these lines at end of the file. Save and exit from the file. 

deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ stable main contrib non-free
deb http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian jessie main

Next execute the apt-get update command to update the sources-list. 

root@linuxhelp:~# apt-get update

Install the uGet package by the executing the following command. 

root@linuxhelp:~# apt-get install uget

Once the package is installed, open the activities window and type the uGet package name. Click on the icon and run the application.uGet

Wasn' t that an easy installation procedure? uGet download manager has many features because it is a lightweight, supports resume download, queue download and monitoring clipboard.
