Frequently asked questions ( 5 )

Q

Why the Zim editor is used?

A

Zim is a lightweight and open-source graphical text editor that is built for maintaining a collection of locally stored wiki-pages. Wiki-page contains text with links to other wiki-pages,

Q

How do I create a new page in the Zim editor?

A

You can just link non-existing pages. If you follow such a link the page will be created automatically when needed in the Zim editor.

Q

How do I organize my pages in a tree structure in Zim editor?

A

You can organize your pages by grouping them in sections. To do so you put pages as sub-pages of a top-level page. The ":" character is used to separate the page levels in the page name. Thus if you link to "foo:bar" you will link to the page called "bar" as a sub-page of the "foo" section. Just link a non-existing page and follow the link to create it. See Pages for more information.

Q

Why do some pages not disappear from the index after deleting them in Zim editor?

A

The index keeps pages that are linked by other pages even if you delete them. To completely remove them you also need to change any page linking them.

Q

What source code is used for its development?

A

Python using GTK+ libraries are used to develop the Zim editor.
