How to install Zoiper on Ubuntu

To install Zoiper on Ubuntu

Zoiper is an open source and multi-platform VOIP Based soft-phone which is similar to Skype. It is used in call-centers for making voice calls. This tutorial explains the procedure to install Zoiper on Ubuntu.

Installing Zoiper

Before you start the installation of Zoiper, go to the Zoiper’ s official website and choose your distribution to download the Zoiper package. you will get a tar package. You can install it through both graphical or a command.

If you prefer to choose command line open your terminal and go to downloads folder. Use the following command for the same purpose.

root@linuxhelpubnt:~# cd Downloads/
root@linuxhelpubnt:~/Downloads# ls
Zoiper_3.3_Linux_Free_32Bit_64Bit.tar.gz

Once you are in the downloads folder, extract the package using tar command.

root@linuxhelpubnt:~/Downloads# tar -xzvf Zoiper_3.3_Linux_Free_32Bit_64Bit.tar.gz 
Zoiper_3.3_Linux_Free_32Bit.run
Zoiper_3.3_Linux_Free_64Bit.run
root@linuxhelpubnt:~/Downloads# ls
Zoiper_3.3_Linux_Free_32Bit_64Bit.tar.gz  Zoiper_3.3_Linux_Free_32Bit.run  Zoiper_3.3_Linux_Free_64Bit.run

Now run the script file according to your architecture

root@linuxhelpubnt:~/Downloads# ./Zoiper_3.3_Linux_Free_64Bit.run 
(main.tcl:3378): IBUS-WARNING **: The owner of /home/user1/.config/ibus/bus is not root!

To install Zoiper graphically, refer the following images which depicts step by step installation of Zoiper.

You will be asked to select the components you want to install.

Zoiper

Choose the location where you want to install Zoiper

install_Zoiper

Zoiper_FORWARD

Zoiper is getting installed.

installing_zoiper

Click finish to complete the installation.

Zoiper_installing_setup_wizard

Start the Zoiper application.
start_zoiper
