Ghosty Application Allows Its Users To Violets The Terms Of Instagram

Facebook has noticed that an app that is available in the Google Play Store named Ghosty is allowing the users to spy on Instagram's private profiles. As soon as Facebook found the issue a cease and desist letter was sent and the Ghosty application was at once removed from the store.

When a user downloads the Ghosty app it requests access to their profile and invites other people. When the user provides access to a private profile joined the network, all would get the same access. The researchers have also said that this application was running off a subscription model, charging money.

The threating Ghosty app was available in the Google Play Store since last April and it almost accumulated over 500,000 downloads. Instagram has also framed a complaint to the android police as the Ghosty app is violating the terms and conditions of Instagram.

The major motive of the Ghosty app is to view the profiles that are hidden and to share photos and videos from the hidden profiles to their own profile. The application has created a database of the users' profiles by abusing the Instagram API.

Ghosty has access only to those users profiles who have logged into the app providing all their Instagram credentials. At present, the app has been removed from Google Play Store officially but still, the app is available in some unofficial third-party app stores. And the Ghosty app was available in two avatars—an ad-supported free version and a premium version.
