Alien

Alien is a utility is mainly used for package maintainers and requires the root privileges to run.  The packages that are mostly converted by Alien are LSB, LSB compliant ones such as .rpm, .deb, .slp, .pkg, .tgz, .txz, .tbz, .tlz, etc. Alien also converts the installation script of a particular package if needed, but this feature has to be carefully used since each Linux distribution varies significantly from one another.
