Hub

A network hub is an unsophisticated device. It works by repeating bits received from one of its ports to all other ports. The needs for hosts to be able to detect collisions limit the number of hubs and total size of a network built using hubs. The hub works at the physical layer of the OSI model. It can also sense collision detection, forwarding a jam signal to all ports if it detects a collision.
