Port-forwarding also known as Port Mapping is a NAT application, where NAT stands for Network Address Translation. It uses iptables for forwarding hosts or ports requests with the help of NAT techniques. It permits the connection of remote systems to a particular computer system, which is held in a private network like LAN (Local Area Network).
