Proxy

Proxy allows access on the internet together with the use of some tools such as wget, rsync, elinks, lynx, and so on. It can be setup through a command line or Gnome GUI.The user needs to set the variables like https_proxy, http_proxy and ftp_proxy for using a proxy on the command line in Linux. Linux servers receive the internet connection with the help of these proxies.A Proxy server acts as an intermediate between the internet and a local network. It also handles the local client requests related to the web services. Squid is an example for a high-performance proxy server and is also called as web proxy cache.
