FHS

FHS (File system Hierarchy Standard) defines the locations, names, and permissions of various types of files and directories. It simply depicts the nature of files and directories belonging to an operating system, and the type of data and contents in those files and directories. All the files and directories represented by FHS are kept under a root directory “/”.
