File system

File system specifies the data storage in a computer disk like floppy disk, hard disk and CDROM. Every file system holds its unique set of rules, which are helpful in controlling the disk space allocation in the files. It also displays the information, which is made available in each file like the file name, its creation date and its permission. The three different file systems used in Linux are Ext2 (Second Extended file system), Ext3 (Third Extended file system) and Ext4 (Fourth Extended file system).
