Subnetting

Subnetting allows the network administrator to partition the host part of the IP address into several subnets. The subnet solves the shortage issues of IP addresses over the Internet. It is an essential process, when a single network has to be allocated over many segments of a LAN. The main advantage of using subnetting is to reduce the network traffic and complexity. It also enables users to access a network from their homes instead of opening the complete network.
