HTTPD

HTTPD stands for Hyper Text Transfer Protocol daemon, which is an application of Apache Hypertext Transfer Protocol. It is built in such a way that it executes as a standalone daemon process. It creates a pool of threads or child processes for handling the requests. A script known as /etc/init.d/httpd is being installed by the RPM of HTTPD, which is accessed with the help of a command called /sbin/service.
