IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol)

IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) is a messaging protocol that allows users to organize messages into folders and handle multiple client applications at the same time. The main use of this protocol is that IMAP allows the client to handle multiple login. IMAP also include server side searches for the messages by the client. IMAP is the successor of POP (Post Office Protocol) that didn’t have the functionality of allowing multiple logins, so to overcome this IMAP was developed. IMAP connects your email server and email client and keeps a copy of the messages in the server. The messages cannot be deleted without the user’s permission.
