Kerberos

A network authentication protocol that utilizes symmetric key cryptography for providing authentication. Kerberos offers authentication for users in a network. It avoids unencrypted password transmission over the network and provides security. It allows the client server communication in a more secure manner. A centralized server authentication service like KDC (Key Distribution Center) is needed for the implementation of kerberos.
