NFS (Network File System)

Network File System (NFS) is supported by Unix-like, macOS, Linux, Windows and FreeBSD. The Network File System (NFS) daemon process, nfsd run by the server receives the client requests to access the data stored on the NFS server; mountd carries out requests received from nfsd; rpcbind is used to determine the port the NFS server uses. Network File System (NFS) uses the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and User Datagram Protocol (UDP) running over an IP network for the server to share data and files with the client over the network.
