PECL
Conceptually, PECL is similar to PEAR as all of PECL’s modules are installed through PEAR Package Manager. PECL uses C extensions for PHP compiling, and runs better when compared to its counterpart PEAR.PECL also has the necessary modules for XML-parsing, access to additional database, mail parsing, embedding Perl or Python in PHP scripts and for compiling PHP scripts.
