Repository

Repository is a computer storage which has all the files stored and maintained in an organized way. Repository can also denote the collection of data in a central place; hence data can be selectively extracted from that place. There are three components to a repository – trunk, branches, and tag respectively. The current version of software used by user is stored in the trunk including its source code and other resources. New versions of software which is used is stored in the branches. Any revisions made by a user on software can be added to the branch. Though tags are used for saving the versions of a software, it isn’t meant for active deployment.
