Slave

A DNS server or a name server resolute the domain name and hostnames into corresponding numeric Internet Protocol (IP) and vice-versa. The DNS server has two types of server, master and slave server. The master server stores the definite versions of all records in a particular zone. The slave server uses the automatic updating mechanism to maintain an identical copy of all the records in the master server. This process is also called as zone transfer.
