Squid is a high performance FTP and HTTP proxy server that facilitates data storage from the frequently used files and web pages. It acts as a content accelerator. Its main function is to receive HTTP requests and to forward those requests. It reduces latency and offers better download speed. It also provides access control on the network by acting as a filter. It is responsible for controlling bandwidth, restricting some policies and filtering contents. It can be installed with the help of yum command.
