ACL

ACL refers to Access Control List and it is designed mainly for permission mechanism for any type of file. It lets the user to provide permission for any user or group even if they are not a part of the group list of the user. Before using ACL in any file, the partition should be mounted with the ACL support. It makes the complex permission models on the application level simpler and easier.Using samba supporting acl’s, permissions can be assigned for both the Linux and windows machines. There is also a possibility to assign permission to a user on a windows domain to access the Linux server without any account.
