Dpkg

Dpkg is responsible for package management in Debian based systems. It is a tool used for the process of installation, removal, building, and management of packages. The primary front-end of dpkg is aptitude. Dpkg itself acts as a front-end to dpkg-query and dpkg-deb. It also holds useful information about Debian packages. The information are made available as states, flags and selection states. It does not install and download packages automatically like any other package management systems. The basic syntax for dpkg is “dpkg [option…] action”
