How to install Digikam on Debian 8.3

Digikam is an open-source digital photo management software for the KDE desktop. It can runs on most of other Linux desktops as long as the required libraries are installed. Digikam allow users to manage and preview digital photo albums, as well as improve the quality of digital photos on the fly by using a collection of photo enhancement and transformation tools. This tutorial covers the ground on how to install digikam on Debian 8.3.

Installation procedure

To start the installation process, type the sources.list repository in the terminal. 

root@linuxhelp:~# nano /etc/apt/sources.list

Now add these lines at end of the file

deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ stable main contrib non-free
deb http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian jessie main

After adding the lines save and exit from the file.

Enter the below command to update the apt sources-list. 

root@linuxhelp:~# apt-get update

After installing the package in the terminal click Activities and type the package digikam name in the search bar and run the application.

Now the application can be used. Wasn' t that a simple installation process? Digikam tool is widely used for photo transformation and enhancement.
