FAQ
Q
How do I fix Audio Sync Issues in Kdenlive?
A
Often this is caused by having mixtures of different audio sources in the project. Audio encoded with VBR (be it pure audio like MP3 or video with audio) can be problematic.
Q
What components does Kdenlive use?
A
In effect, Kdenlive is a front end to melt - which uses the MLT video framework. The MLT video framework relies on the FFMPEG project. Kdenlive writes sh.mlt XML files that code the edit points and transitions and it then calls /usr/bin/kdenlive_render and /usr/bin/melt to render the video.
Q
what are the supportted distro for kdenlive?
A
Linux, microsoft windows and OS X
Q
How can I create luma transitions/wipes in Kdenlive?
A
Create a pgm file (it is just a grayscale image with size 720x576 (PAL) or 720x486 (NTSC) with gradients. Gimp or Inkscape, for example, are quite good for creating the images.
When ready simply put them in the folder ~/.kde/share/apps/kdenlive/pgm/PAL (create the folder if necessary).
Q
How can I share my luma transitions with other kdenlive users?
A
Using the KNewstuff technology you can now share your luma files through the internet. Simply upload your luma file to http://www.kde-files.org. You need to create a free account, then go to Add Content and upload your image file into the category Kdenlive. You can also create a tar.gz archive containing several pgm images. Please add a comment to say if the transition is PAL or NTSC, add a small jpeg preview and that's it.
