vgchange -an vg_name

To activate the logical volume/ volume group

To deactivate the logical volume/ volume group

lvchange -an /dev/vg_name/lv_name

vgchange -an vg_name

To activate the logical volume/ volume group

lvchange -ay /dev/vg_name/lv_name

vgchange -ay vg_name

Not able to activate/deactivate the physical volume ..... it's possible to remove the physical volume.

You can and activate or deactivate all of the logical volumes in a volume group with the -a option of the vgchange command. This is the equivalent of running the lvchange -a command on each individual logical volume in the volume group
