Answer
Its possible most of the linux partitions (eg: ext2, ext3, ext4, xfs) could be extended without unmounting.
Please post with the exact partition type that you need to extend.

Then no problem in increasing the size without unmount or any action. Use lvextend commnad and extend as required.

How to increase LVM size without unmounting
Is it possible to extend the size of LVM without unmounting the partition..??
