Answer
Yes you can combine both authoritative and recursive into one server but in different port number. For this setup, first you need to install powerdns Authoritative and then install recursor and change the port no for recursor let's consider 5300 and you need to add one line on your powerdns authoritative configuration (/etc/pdns.conf) as shown below
recursor=192.0.2.1:5300

PowerDNS : Authoritative and Recursive
Hi there, I have worked with Bind for the most of the time while i am configuring a DNS server for my network environment, and recently i have migrated from Bind DNS to PowerDNS and facing some complex over PowerDNS while comparing to Bind as new user. I wanna know is there any way to combine those both authoritative server and recursive server in powerdns similar to the way does in Bind?
