Network Time Protocol (NTP) synchronizes the time among a network of computers. NTP deploys Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), as a reference clock for synchronization purpose. Since it uses a resolution which is less than a nanosecond, its time synchronization is very accurate. As it is a fault – tolerant protocol, it automatically selects the accurate time from the available sources to synchronize with the other computers. It is highly scalable and is designed to tackle the effects caused by Network latency. When the network connection is temporarily unavailable, it uses past time measurements to predict the current time and error.
