How to install TV-Maxe in Ubuntu

TV-Maxe is an alternative for Sopcast, enabling the users to easily watch international TV channels.it supports Gstreamer, VLC and HTTP remote control. It also supports stream recording, remote management via HTTP or infrared port, multiple backends playback GStreamer, VLC and MPlayer. This tutorial covers the installation procedure of TV-Maxe in Ubuntu.

Installation procedure

To start the installation procedure, add the repository by executing the following command.

root@linuxhelp:/home/user1# add-apt-repository ppa:venerix/pkg

Supported releases :
    TV-MAXE : Lucid 10.04 LTS ==>  Utopic 14.10
    SOPCAST : Lucid 10.04 LTS ==>  Utopic 14.10
Unsupported (don' t ask why) : development releases of Ubuntu
TV-MAXE version updates : only LTS releases of Ubuntu

The repositories are added to the target system. update the local repository index by running a following command.

The target system is updated with the required repositories. Install the TV-Maxe package by executing the following command.

To open TV-Maxe application, run the tvmaxe command in the terminal.

root@linuxhelp:/home/user1# tvmaxe

Select the tv maxe option in the menu and select add a TV channel.

Add new stream or a channel name with the required URL.

Connect to pbx tv with the required credentials.

The user can change the general settings of the TV-maxe.

It also contains advanced settings.

The user can also add subscriptions to various channels.

The About TV-Maxe contains the latest version of the TV-Maxe.
