Failed to connect socket to /var/run/libvirt/libvirt-sock: No such file or directory

While listing the available VMs in my machine got the below error. Cant able to list itself???

error: Failed to reconnect to the hypervisor 
error: no valid connection
error: Failed to connect socket to ' /var/run/libvirt/libvirt-sock' : No such file or directory

Check the libvirtd service status, if the service is not started then the error appears as shown.
