NEdit, the Nirvana editor, is a text editor and source code editor for the X Window System. It has an interface similar to text editors on Microsoft Windows and Macintosh, rather than to older UNIX editors like Emacs. With this, the method to install NEdit on Centos 7 comes to an end.

Installation

Finally, install the NEdit application.

Once Installation is done open the centos terminal and opens the Nedit application.

In the current version, that's not possible, but there are external tools for highlighting, which are specifically designed for printing, including a2ps, enscript, and genscript.

NEdit no longer uses the Motif text widget, so all of the functionality had to be duplicated in the new widget. Drag and drop between windows got left off due to time pressure of getting out the new release, but it will be back some day.

NEdit is slow and pages continuously on my 8MB Linux system. What can I do?

On most Unix workstations, 8MB of RAM is actually insufficient to run X and Motif properly. Some Linux users get by with it and Linux itself seems to be quite a memory efficient, but you really should have 12 or 16 if you're going to be using X much. NEdit would not be my first choice in editors on an 8MB system.
