logrotate is designed to ease administration of systems that generate large numbers of log files. It allows automatic rotation, compression, removal, and mailing of log files. Each log file may be handled daily, weekly, monthly, or when it grows too large. Normally, logrotate is run as a daily cron job.

The default logrotate location is /etc/logrotate.conf

You can configure the own configration by using the following path /etc/logrotate.d

Cron allows Linux and Unix users to run commands or scripts at a given date and time.

The default cron location for hourly , daily , weekly and monthly

cron.daily
cron.hourly
cron.monthly
cron.weekly
